[ VILAGE ISSUES ] [ NURSING HOME AND TOWN HOUSES PLANNED FOR PORT SUNLIGHT ]

.

Anne Brocksom, a resident of Port Sunlight has expressed concern about the planned Nursing Home and town house dwellings awaiting planning permission.

Anne says, "Port Sunlight residents have recently had notification about proposed developments on the plot of land at the end of Water St and at the back of The Ginnel. Although the buildings would be situated at some distance from existing properties the increased traffic will obviously impact on the whole of the Village."

The two developments appear to relate to the same plot but are seemingly from different property developers.
1. Ref: 2003/6502 is a renewal of permission granted in 1998 by the current owners of the land to build a 60 bed nursing home with 38 close care apartments; this proposal was never acted upon.
2. Ref: 2003/6503 is a new application to build 16x3 storey town houses and 34x2 storey apartments.

Concerns of residents expressed relate to the lack of consultation time offered, significant increase in the volume of traffic, lack of adequate parking provision for residents and their visitors, additional problems for the existing sewage and drainage system, the lack of appropriateness of a development in a Conservation Area in architectural design and the fact that minimum privacy distances whilst meeting planning standards are violated in this part of the village.
