Today Port Sunlight' s local exchange reached the necessary number of registrations required for BT to upgrade the exchange in preparation for high-speed internet. We closely follow Irby, West Kirby, Hoylake, and Neston who like us staged successful campaigns.

You can check the upgrade progress at www.bt.com/broadband and typing in your telephone number.
We'll keep you informed of any major developments until the actual upgrade.

In the meantime, We'd like to thank everyone who participated in the self registration scheme.

A quote from the BT Broadband site:-

"Good news - Your exchange will have broadband ADSL by 28th May 2003.

Our initial test on your line suggests that you may be able to have a broadband ADSL service that provides up to 512Kbps download speed, but the upstream bandwidth will vary according to the length of your telephone line. It will not be possible to provide the 1Mbps or 2Mbps broadband ADSL services.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm that your line is suitable, and if so for what speed of service.
