[ VILLAGE ISSUES ] [ PORT SUNLIGHT - BROADBAND UPDATE ]

.

From a desperate position six months ago, Wirral has emerged at the forefront of areas to be upgraded to high-speed internet access.

Rock Ferry, the exchange serving the Port Sunlight, Bebington and New Ferry areas, now has 300 of the 400 necessary pre-registrations for BT to convert to ADSL, their choice for broadband transmission. A typical broadband facility (around £28 per month) essentially means the consumer has always-on simultaneous internet access at download speeds of up to 12 times faster than present (uploads at 6 times faster) and the the ability to make telephone calls at the same time.

Irby exchange was the first to be upgraded on December 12th after a vigorous campaign by 'Broadband 4 Irby'. Similar initiatives have been set up around the peninsula and an additional five exchanges, Rock Ferry, Hoylake ,Caldy , Neston and Bromborough should have broadband within the next few months.

You can speed up the process by registering through your chosen internet provider. More information and a simple way to register can be found at the following sites:

Broadband for Port Sunlight
Broadband for New Ferry

In a bid to speed up the process, BT have waived the confirmation period for pre-registrations which effectively means that once the target figure is reached, the exchange will be upgraded.

Season's Greetings from all at Port Sunlight Village Online.
